Las Vegas Disc Jockey Scam Warning - Do Your Research!
April 17th, 2009 by Las Vegas Disc Jockey JeremyG

We really hate to talk bad about our competitors or the Las Vegas Disc Jockey industry in general but but once in a while we come across things SO BAD that we have to warn potential clients. This blog post covers TWO major problems happening in Las Vegas right now.

A Solid Gold Sound:

This is the company that you see advertising almost every time you Google for a DJ in Las Vegas. They promote for $495 Disc Jockeys and have a slick website. They make you think that they are in Las Vegas but in actuality they are in Kentucky (it’s possible they are in Ohio but they cover their tracks very well). Many brides have told me that they use hard-sell tactics and make you think that there is very limited availability. In reality, what they do is put every wedding out “on bid” and take the LOWEST BID. The company does not meet or screen the cut-rate DJs that they hire. And, probably because of that, they have many no-shows and un-prepared DJs.

Please DO NOT take our word for it,  I’ll just let the following links speak for us - take 10 minutes to get informed!

INSIDE EDITION did a report on them: CLICK HERE

And, 2 local TV stations also reported on them: Report 1 Report 2

UPDATE: Solid Gold Sound’s ASSETS were sold in late 2008, however the complaints still come in. 37 of them just in the last 11 months! BBB REPORT < click to view

Prior to the sale, they had amassed over 200 complaints in 36 months! They have somehow managed to get that BBB report removed, but rest assured, they are the same company under a new owner’s name! Don’t be fooled!

You can also check out RipOffReport for several consumer complaints and stories. Here’s a list of ALL the RipOffReport articles: LINK

And here’s a link to my3cents.com with 10+ negative reviews on Solid Gold Sound. I really feel for the one bride that was threatened with a LAWSUIT after she posted her factual story about her dealings with Solid Gold Sound.  LINK TO My3Cents.com Reviews where you will find a listing of 10 PAGES worth of complaints!

To save you even more time, here’s the GOOGLE SEARCH for “Solid Gold Complaints”

Craigslist Disc Jockeys

Let us first say that there are some legitimate DJ companies that advertise on Craigslist. How do you weed thru the bad ones? Simple. Ask them to send you a copy of their insurance and their business license. Are they working out of a house or are they in a legitimate office? Can they send you a printed contract with ALL the information about your event including verbage explaining the cancellation policy?

Here’s the most common problem you’ll find on Craigslist. A DJ will advertise for $30/hour, or $50/hour, etc.  They book your event. Then, they advertise for $75/hour. If they can book an event at $75/hour, they either simply won’t show up at your event or sometimes they’ll even call to cancel on you. And, since these DJs usually aren’t licensed and work out of a PO Box (sometimes without legitimate contracts), if you’ve already paid them a deposit (or heaven forbid, in full) then it will be very difficult to get any money back.

We get 3 to 4 calls EVERY MONTH, usually on Wednesday or Thursday, for brides looking for a last-minute DJ because “I can’t get my DJ to call me back”. Almost every time, when we ask where they found the DJ, it was on Craigslist.

We’re Sorry, But The Disc Jockey Industry in Las Vegas Isn’t The Greatest

There really are a lot of unscrupulous companies out there. But there IS at least one great company…. D. Jay’s Entertainment is dedicated to perfect service, honest advice, and complete customer satisfaction. We have dozens of POSITIVE 5-star reviews on the web. We’ve won THREE NATIONAL AWARDS for our service and based on bridal reviews.

We just want Las Vegas Brides to be happy… to pick a DJ company that is legitimate, and who will show up and do a GREAT job at their reception.

We’d love to work with YOU for your wedding reception music and entertainment in Las Vegas! Please visit our main site at D. Jay’s Entertainment or call us at 702-643-3529 for pricing for disc jockey packages in Las Vegas!

Wow! That is some scary stuff. Its always a good idea to check out any business you are planning on contracting, but I guess this especially true for your wedding. I’m glad my fiance and I met with you guys early and that we can now feel safe knowing we are covered. Thanks and see you on July 3rd!

It isn’t straightforward and it will likely be tougher to make respectable cash on-line,whenever you begin you simply cant stop pushing, each day something new until you attain the stage where it’s changing into routine to generate income, while you come to that time, than you can say it is simple, lots of work and dedication—————————————————————http://privatetip.com
